How to Teach Your Husband How to Take Care of A New Born

Being a parent for the first time brings a lot of happiness. But along with the joy comes fear of losing your freedom. This is usually the case with men; they believe that a child will come along and ruin their plans. This is true, plans are ruined but new plans formed are much better than the previous ones you can ask any dad right now. The trick is to get them involved in taking care of your child.

Teaching your husband a few tricks will bring him closer to the child and he will want to learn more. First off, help him hold the baby; believe it or not I have seen some fathers who cannot even hold the kid right. Teach him how to adjust the baby’s head on their forearm and the other arm should be under the baby’s rear. Show him how to hold the baby; this is no rocket science so he’ll get the hang of it soon.

The next thing is an even scarier part - changing diapers. Even though men themselves are usually messy, when it comes to changing a diaper they back off saying its disgusting or something similar. But don’t let them get away. Show them how to change a diaper once, explaining a few important things to do. Like first off disposing the dirty diaper and cleaning the baby. Then putting some powder on the baby’s rear and putting on a new diaper. Tell your man to be gentle and very careful during this process.

Now comes an easy part, preparing the baby’s feeder. This might be the most simple task in the book. Just put the milk powder in a bottle, pour boiling water in it and shake it to mix the contents. Also one should always remember to sterilize the nipple. You should also check the temperature of the milk and how much milk is coming out. This part is pretty simple and can even be done by a 10-year-old.

Giving your baby a bath is a routine which most husbands and wives do turn by turn or together to save effort. Working together makes it easier for your husband to learn and at the same time, makes him feel more like a part of the family. Teach him some of the necessary steps, like checking the temperature of the water first. Be careful not to let soap get into the baby’s eye. And lastly, dry him/her up and put some clothes on them.

The most common and easiest way to do all this is by taking child birth classes. These classes usually require the involvement of your partners at several sessions. During this time they are taught how to do all of the above and more. They also teach safety precautions for a baby, or how to put a baby to sleep. They also rehearse the delivery day situation so that you know what to do and how to do it.

Teaching your husband to take care of your baby is not hard at all. All you have to do is make him feel needed.

I agree with the tips outline here for women to get their husbands involved with upkeep of the newly born baby. One thing to add is the natural inclination of the man. The man should be inclined to help his wife no matter his likes or dislikes for the upkeep of the baby. By so doing, he will come to love his child without any reservation. I have there before and now have 5 kids of my own. keep the flow and it will come with your knowing.
